Do you want to know how to make your own CBD gummies? How to make your own CBD gummies is not that hard, but there are a few things you need to know beforehand. I will give you an overview of what you need, and what’s the way to make sure that it will work for you.
Step 1: Decide on your dosage
The first step in finding out how to use CBD oil is figuring out your dosage. Many people find that using the oil sublingually (under the tongue) is the best way to take it. This allows it to absorb directly into the bloodstream without passing through the digestive tract, which can speed up absorption and delivery of CBD to the bloodstream (and bypass first-pass metabolism).
Research shows that taking CBD oil sublingually allows more CBD to get into the bloodstream than other methods. It’s also fast-acting, so you’ll typically feel the effects within 20 minutes of taking it sublingually.
To take CBD oil sublingually, place your desired dosage under your tongue and hold it there for 30-90 seconds before swallowing.
You can also add CBD oil to food or drinks if you don’t like the taste of it under your tongue. However, doing so will reduce bioavailability, meaning less CBD will be absorbed into your bloodstream.
If you’re using a tincture, you can use the eyedropper tool on the bottle to measure out your dose (following the instructions on the bottle). If you’re using another type of product, check out our dosing guide for more information.
Step 2: Create gummy mixture.
The next step is to make a gummy mixture. To do this, you will need to add the gelatin powder and the hot water to a mixing bowl. Stir until the gelatin has dissolved. Then add the apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, and sea salt. Mix well. Add 1/4 teaspoon of an oil-based food coloring to each silicone mold. If you are using regular molds, add a few drops of food coloring to the bowl of gummy mixture and mix well. Pour about 1 tablespoon of gummy mixture into each mold. If using a regular mold, place it in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes or until set. If using silicone molds, refrigerate for 10-15 minutes or until set.
Step 3: Add cannabidiol isolate to the gummy mixture.
In a small bowl, combine water and gelatin powder. Set aside for 5 minutes. The gelatin will absorb all of the water and expand in size.
Take your saucepan with dissolved gelatin and add 1 gram of cannabidiol isolate to it. Stir well until everything is dissolved. If you don’t have a gram scale, you can use a teaspoon or tablespoon instead. One teaspoon contains around 4 grams, so use one-quarter of a teaspoon for every gummy you want to make.
Add fruit juice or food coloring to the mixture if you want colorful gummies. You can also add candy flavoring or essential oils at this point as well, but keep in mind that the flavoring may contain alcohol which can reduce the potency of your CBD gummies.
Pour the mixture into silicone molds or spread it on parchment paper in a baking dish. Use an eyedropper or syringe to fill each mold individually with CBD oil and avoid spilling the mixture all over the place (unless you are using a baking dish).
Step 4: Melt gelatin and combine remaining ingredients.
Melt the gelatin in the warm water, then add it to the bowl of a food processor. Add in the green onions and the remaining ingredients, except for the avocado. Process until smooth.
Transfer to a medium-sized bowl and fold in the avocado chunks with a large rubber spatula. Pour into prepared mold, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until set, at least 4 hours or overnight.
Unmold by placing bottom of mold into a bowl of hot water for 5 seconds, then invert onto serving plate. Serve garnished with fresh cilantro sprigs and extra hot sauce on the side if desired.
Step 5: Fill molds.
Fill the molds with the infused coconut oil, leaving a little room at the top for each gummy to expand. If you are using a liquid honey or sweetener, add it at this time. Put the molds in the freezer for about 15 minutes, checking often after 10 minutes. If you are using a solid honey or sweetener, remove some of the gummies from the mold and add it to them individually. Place gummies back into the freezer for another 5 minutes, then remove from freezer and pop out of molds. Place gummies in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.
Step 6: Keep at cool temperatures.
Once you’ve finished making your gummies, it’s important to store them properly. The best way to do this is by keeping them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use them. This will keep the gummies from melting or becoming too sticky. You can also freeze them for later enjoyment!
One of the benefits of making your own CBD gummies is that you can control how much CBD is in each gummy. Since the CBD oil is already mixed into the liquid before adding it to the molds, it doesn’t matter if some of the oil gets left behind when pouring out your mixture. You can decide how much or little CBD you want in each individual gummy. We recommend getting a measuring cup with milliliters (ml) measurements on it so it’s easy to measure out your desired amount of liquid to make sure you have enough for all your little molds.
