The cannabis industry is a booming business, estimated to reach $24.5 billion by 2025. So what is CBD oil? Where did it come from? What’s the difference between CBD and THC? What are the benefits of CBD oil? And what makes it so different from medical marijuana?

CBD Guide – what is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis, a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years. Today the therapeutic properties of CBD are being tested and confirmed by scientists and doctors around the world. A safe, non-addictive substance, CBD is one of more than a hundred “phytocannabinoids,” which are unique to cannabis and endow the plant with its robust therapeutic profile.

Cannabidiol is just one of over 85 cannabinoids presently identified in the cannabis plant. THC is just one of the 85 cannabinoids that may be present in varying concentrations in different strains of Cannabis sativa. THC is considered to be the most psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. Cannabidiol (CBD), which does not cause psychoactivity, seems to counteract some of the effects of THC.

What Is CBD Oil?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound found in cannabis and hemp. Dr. Klein says it is essential to note that in most cases, CBD does not contain delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that gives marijuana its psychoactive properties. In fact, most CBD products are derived from hemp and not from marijuana.

Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is a product that’s derived from cannabis. It’s a type of cannabinoid, which are the chemicals naturally found in marijuana plants. Even though it comes from marijuana plants, CBD doesn’t create a “high” effect or any form of intoxication — that’s caused by another cannabinoid, known as THC.

There’s some debate around cannabis products like CBD oil because of recreational marijuana use. But there’s growing awareness about the possible health benefits of CBD oil. Here’s what you need to know if you’re considering this product.

What are the benefits of CBD?

CBD could be the perfect medicine for people with insomnia. This is because CBD is known to reduce anxiety, which can be a cause of sleep problems for some individuals. Reducing anxiety can help you get better sleep and stay asleep longer.

CBD has been extensively studied for its potential benefits in treating many common health issues, including stress, anxiety, and chronic pain.

Chronic pain can lead to many various conditions that decrease quality of life and make it hard to enjoy daily activities. Studies have shown that CBD can help reduce chronic pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation, and interacting with neurotransmitters.

CBD may help reduce symptoms related to cancer and side effects related to cancer treatment, like nausea, vomiting and pain. One study looked at the effects of CBD and THC in 177 people with cancer-related pain who didn’t experience relief from pain medication. Those treated with an extract containing both compounds experienced a significant reduction in pain compared to those who received only THC extract.

How does CBD work?

CBD works by interacting with specific receptors. These receptors are located within different parts of the body, such as the central nervous system and immune system.

Using the oral route, CBD avoids the liver metabolism that is responsible for breaking down most of the cannabinoids. This results in a longer duration of action, which is associated with a more prolonged peak effect.

The oral route is also not associated with an increase in side effects or problems with drug abuse or overdose; these problems are often encountered when drugs are administered intravenously.

How is CBD oil made?

This question is a bit like asking how beer is made. The answer will depend on which brand of beer you’re talking about. However, there are some basic steps that can be used to describe how CBD oil is manufactured.

how is CBD oil made

First, it’s important to understand that CBD oil is made from industrial hemp plants and not marijuana plants. Industrial hemp plants are grown for their fiber, seeds, and — in the case of CBD oil — cannabinoid-rich flowers.

Cannabinoid-rich flowers are often referred to as full spectrum or broad spectrum hemp extract because they contain a number of cannabinoids in addition to cannabidiol (CBD).

The first step in making CBD oil is to harvest the flowers from the hemp plant.

The flowers are then dried and ground into a fine powder. This powder can either be used directly or extracted into an oil such as olive, coconut, or sunflower seed oil. If you opt for the latter, you’ll have an end product known as a tincture, or one that you can use sublingually (under the tongue).

Whichever method you choose, it’s very important to store your CBD oil in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Are there different kinds of CBD oil?

There are several different types of CBD oil products, each containing a different concentration of CBD.

The two primary forms of pure CBD oil products are CBD isolates, and full-spectrum oils. They differ in the amount of CBD and other cannabinoids found in the product. A full-spectrum oil contains many other beneficial compounds found in hemp, including other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, minerals and more. Full spectrum oils also have trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%) which can be useful for those who are trying to avoid its psychoactive effects.

CBD isolates are pure extracts that do not contain any other active compound from the plant besides cannabidiol (CBD). Other cannabinoids have been removed to make this type of oil. The benefits of using isolates is that there’s no risk of consuming any THC with it, so you can feel confident if you need to take a drug test for work or other reasons.

Most people choose full spectrum oils because they provide additional benefits over CBD isolates — most notably the entourage effect (more on that later). However isolate oils are popular with those who want no traces of THC in their system whatsoever.
